Angela M. Tomlin, PhD & Stephan Viehweg, LCSW, ACSW, IECMH-E®, CYC-P are joining us to present “What’s your story? From self-discovery to reflective practice through the parallel process:”

Effective work with young children and families is enhanced by activation, understanding, and thoughtful use of parallel process. The ability to recognize and make good use of parallel process phenomena begins with the provider’s self-awareness and knowledge. This interactive session explores a range of strategies that providers can use to increase their self-awareness and perspective taking skills in ways that support meaningful reflective practice.

In the afternoon, we are excited to welcome Dorian Traube, PhD, to present “Reflective Coaching for our Littlest Learners and their Adults.”

Reflective coaching offers a powerful framework for strengthening the capacity of early childhood providers and families by integrating adult learning principles with relationship-based practice. This presentation explores how reflective coaching supports professional growth, enhances family engagement, and promotes infant and early childhood well-being. Participants will learn strategies for fostering trust and collaboration, creating space for reflection in virtual and in-person settings, and using everyday moments to celebrate babies’ development. Drawing on practice-based examples, we will highlight how coaching grounded in reflection helps providers process their experiences, deepen their skills, and better support families. By centering relationships, adult learning, and the joy of early development, reflective coaching becomes a vital tool for nurturing both practitioners and the families they serve.

To round out our afternoon, Steve Zwolak a founding member of MOAIMH-EC, will be presenting "In the Heart of Relationship: Building Infant Resilience Through Reflective Connection.

This session explores how the quality of adult–infant relationships forms the foundation for resilience in early life. Through gazing and reflective practices, participants will consider how trust, attunement, and emotional presence awaken a baby’s capacity to thrive. Together, we will reflect on how holding infants in both mind and heart not only shapes their lifelong sense of safety, connection, and strength, but also calls us to embrace the profound joy and responsibility of nurturing the next generation.on a topic to be announced!
